The following of some of the limitations of the model to date:

• It is one dimensional
• It is of a very limited extent spatially
• The input cannot be really temporally modulated
• It is hard to really vary the input to examine what happens on the output
• Only X cells are modeled
• The X cells do not show the dependence of the center size to temporal frequency as shown my Troy and Enroth-Cugell (1989)
• You cannot really observer the output over time
• The effects of the tremor eye movements are not well modeled (Carpenter, 1977)
